Brown Butter & Maple Old Fashioned
Ingredients (makes ~1 drink)
2 oz bourbon (Makers Mark is my favorite)
½ oz maple syrup (pure)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Garnish: orange peel + optional flaked sea salt
Instructions
(If you choose) Brown-butter wash the bourbon ahead: melt unsalted butter until golden brown, add to bourbon, let sit, then chill & strain. (Optional but adds depth.)
In a mixing glass, combine bourbon + maple syrup + bitters with ice.
Stir until chilled and diluted to your liking.
Strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube.
Express the orange peel over the drink (rub rim, drop peel in). If desired, sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaked sea salt on top.
Enjoy the warm, nutty, maple-rich profile.
Tip
Maple syrup sweetness can vary: start with ½ oz, taste, then adjust if you like sweeter or drier.
